Freeze out

It has been so cold here the last few days. Bitterly cold. The kind of cold that, when you go outside, you have to take short breaths because it hurts to breathe too deeply.

It was 17 degrees last night when I went to bed. That's cold, folks.

Not only has it been cold, but the wind isn't helping much. Wednesday we had wind gusts between 30 and 40 MPH. It has calmed down since, but the wind is still making things miserable.

That 17 degrees? It was 6 with windchill. If these temperatures continue and we get snow on top of it... argh. I don't even want to think about it.

I don't mind the cold. I don't mind the wind. I don't mind the snow. But any combination? Not fit weather for man nor beast.

When I take Big Words out to do his business in the morning and before bed, he finishes and runs back up to the porch and just stares at me shivering as if to say, "Let me in! I'm freezin' my tail off here, pal!"
